The 1987 Laurent Clerc Memorial Dedication at Gallaudet University   Washington D.C.

The GU Bust of Laurent Clerc.png

Laurent Clerc definitely had an impact on the creation and direction of Gallaudet University, founded in 1864. So much so that he was asked to give an address at the opening and dedication of the only Deaf university in the world. In 1987, Gallaudet University chose to honour Laurent Clerc with a monument, copying the bust of him that resided at the American School for the Deaf in West Hartford. Here is a great article about the event!

On October 31st, the bust dedication took place. We have here the pages of the dedication brochure. (Originally produced by Gallaudet University and copied from brochure at the Cogswell Heritage House at the American School for the Deaf.
