Laurent Clerc Projects

While developing our stamp project we discovered that Deaf schools were including history and cultural modules in their curriculums. With the teachers at the American School for the Deaf in West Hartford, Connecticut we developed an art history and stamp module to be used with students. Duplicated at the California School for the Deaf in Fremont, California we are looking to engage Deaf schools across the nation.

We are looking at many ways to honor and raise the profile of Laurent Clerc as an historical figure. To do so enlightens the world and gives expression to his accomplishments. What better way to do this then by encouraging and collecting expressions of art.

Every campaign needs a person to represent it. The Laurent Clerc Stamp Project adopted Flat Laurent as it "sign" person. His goal is to travel the world advertising our stamp project and to create fun content along the way.

Part of honoring Laurent Clerc involves caring for his emotional legacy but also his physical remains. Without resources to beautify Eliza and Laurent Clerc's grave site the cemetery has had to let nature be the gardener. Now a group of volunteers decided to step up and help!
